Please Note

  • Participants are to attend only one session.
  • Each session is limited to a maximum of 16 participants.
  • Registrants will undergo a selection process, and those selected must complete payment to confirm their placement.
  • ACWP will maintain a waiting list once the maximum number of participants is reached.
  • Shortlisted participants will be contacted for payment and notified on the venue of the workshop.

Overview and Learning Outcomes

All participants are required to submit a manuscript of up to 5,000 words (short story or a chapter from a novel in progress). Winterson will select two manuscripts per class for discussion. To prepare for interactive analysis and discussion, all participants will read the two selected manuscripts in advance.

While we can’t guarantee your manuscript will be chosen, all participants will benefit from the in-depth analysis and learn valuable insights from the workshopped pieces. If this format appeals to you, we encourage you to apply!

Who Should Apply?

    Writers, including:

    • Intermediate Writers: Writers who have chosen to pursue writing as a full-time or part-time career with serious, professional intent but are not yet published with a mainstream or recognized independent publisher.
    • Advanced Writers: Writers who have published at least one book with a mainstream or recognized independent publisher, and/or have been published in at least one literary journal or anthology.

    Participants will be selected by the Visiting Writer with assistance from the ACWP. A waiting list will be maintained.

     

    Ticketing and Registration

    • A manuscript of up to 5,000 words in English, with clear indication if it’s a short story or part of a novel.

    Course Fees

    • General: $50
    • Concession: $25
    • Free with Registration for students (subject to selection process).

    Terms and Conditions

    • Concession applicable to NSFs and senior citizens aged 55 and above.
    • Free with registration entry applicable only to students, including undergraduate and postgraduate students from Singapore tertiary institutions.
    • All tickets sold are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.

    About Jeanette Winterson

    Jeanette Winterson CBE is a British writer and BAFTA winner. She has published more than 20 books including Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, Written on the Body, and the bestselling memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? Her essays on artificial intelligence 12 Bytes, considers AI using history, philosophy, religion, feminism, and popular culture. She is Professor of New Writing at the University of Manchester, and a Fellow of St Catherine’s College, Oxford. Her work is published around the world.
