Suneel Krishnan

Dr Suneel Krishnan is an esteemed writer, translator, critic, essayist and editor of Tamil language fiction who has presented at workshops and festivals in India, Malaysia and Singapore.
He has written short stories and novels including Ambu Padukkai (2018), Vishakkinaru (2020) and Neelakantam (2020).
He has also translated works including Hindu Gnanam Oru Eliya Arimugam by Kshiti Mohan Sen, Sudanthiramum Samuganeedhiyum by Rajmohan Gandhi, Mahathmavuku Anjali for Tributes inn Radio, and Sathiyathudanana Sodhanaigalin Kadhai (upcoming 2023), a translated version of the critical annotated edition of Gandhi’s Autobiography, edited by Tridip Suhrud. He has written two books on literary criticism: ‘Samakala Sirukadhaigalin Parinamam’ critical essays on short storie, and ‘Valaroli’ an anthology of critical essays and interviews.
He has also edited Anthologies including Gandhi Ellaigaluku Appal (2012), a book of translated Articles on Gandhi, Pinnavinathuva vadhiyin Manaivi – Selected stories of Sureshkumara Indrajith (2019), Gandhiyai Sumapavargal (2021) and Mahathma Gandhi in Tamil – An anthology (Bharatiya Vidya bhavan 2022).
Among the awards and recognition he has received include the 2018 Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar award for his short story collection ‘Ambu Padukkai’, the 2018 Kanaiyazhi Ezhuthu Kuru novel competition ‘Asokamithran’ prize for his novella ‘Pesum Poonai’, the Ka Na Su short story award for ‘Eppodhum Mudivele Inbam’ in 2020 and the “அறச்செம்மல்” award given by Erode Aram Arakatalai.
He has also participated in various television discussion programs, delivered lectures and talks in relation to Tamil Modern literature in various educational institutions and forums, and participated in literary festivals such as Gateway litfest, Mumbai, International Litfest at Shimla, organised by Sahitya Akademi, and the Singapore Writers’ festival. Further he is an editor of a website in Tamil dedicated to articles on Gandhi, Gandhian thoughts and Gandhians– www.gandhitodaytamil.com, one of the editors of Tamil literary ezine ‘Padhakai’, and one of the editors of tamil.wiki. He was also one of the judges for The 2019 Golden Point Tamil language short story competition in Singapore and a judge for the Singapore literary prize fiction in Tamil in 2022. He is a member of the Academic Council of Srimath Andavar College of Arts and Science, Srirangam.
He is currently an Ayurvedic Physician and Chief consultant at Kotakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, Karaikudi, India.

‘காந்தி எல்லைகளுக்கு அப்பால்’ – காந்தியைப் பற்றிய மொழியாக்கக் கட்டுரைகள் (2012), ‘பின்நவீனத்துவவாதியின் மனைவி’ – சுரேஷ்குமார இந்திரஜித்தின் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த சிறுகதைகள் (2019), “காந்தியைச் சுமப்பவர்கள்’ (2021) மற்றும் “மஹாத்மா காந்தி தமிழில் – ஒரு தொகுப்பு’ (பாரதிய வித்தியா பவன்), இவர் தொகுத்த தொகை நூல்களில் உள்ளடங்கும்.
‘அம்புப்படுக்கை’ சிறுகதை தொகுப்பிற்கு 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டு சாகித்திய அகாதமி யுவ புராஸ்கார் விருது, ‘பேசும் பூனை’ குறுநாவலுக்கு 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டு கணையாழி எழுத்து குறுநாவல் போட்டி அசோகமித்திரன் பரிசு, ‘எப்போதும் முடிவிலே இன்பம்’ சிறுகதைக்கு 2020 இல் க.நா.சு சிறுகதை பரிசு மற்றும் ஈரோடு அறம் அறக்கட்டளை வழங்கிய அறச்செம்மல் விருது போன்ற பல விருதுகளையும் அங்கீகாரத்தையும் இவர் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
மேலும் இவர் பல்வேரு தொலைக்காட்சி கலந்துரையாடல் நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் பங்கேற்றுள்ளார்; தமிழ் நவீன இலக்கியம் பற்றி பல கல்விக் கழகங்களில் அரங்கங்களிலும் உரையாற்றியுள்ளார்; மும்பையில் நடைபெறும் ‘கேட்வெய்’ இலக்கிய விழா, சாகித்திய அகாதமி சிம்லாவில் ஏற்பாடு செய்த அனைத்துலக இலக்கிய விழா, சிங்கப்பூர் எழுத்தாளர்கள் விழா போன்ற இலக்கிய விழாக்களில் பங்கேற்றுள்ளார்.

‘பதாகை’ தமிழ் இலக்கிய இணைய இதழ் ஆசிரியர்களில் ஒருவர்; தமிழ் விக்கி ஆசிரியர்களில் ஒருவர். 2019 இல் சிங்கப்பூரில் நடைபெற்ற தங்க முனை தமிழ் மொழி சிறுகதை போட்டியின் நடுவராகவும், 2022 இல் சிங்கப்பூர் இலக்கிய பரிசு தமிழில் புனைகதைப் போட்டியின் நடுவராகவும் இருந்தார். இவர் ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திலுள்ள ஸ்ரீமத் ஆண்டவர் கலை & அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் கல்வி சபையின் உறுப்பினர்.
தற்சமயம் இவர் கோட்டக்கல் ஆரிய வைத்தியசாலை, காரைக்குடி, இந்தியாவில் ஆயுர்வேத மருத்துவர் மற்றும் தலைமை ஆலோசகராகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார்.
