Exercises In Ephemerality: Positive Death Acceptance In Life at NTU ADM Portfolio

Researchers and psychologists alike believe that confronting death and learning to accept death can be beneficial to our lives. Based on the idea of rituals as transformative experiences, ‘Exercises in Ephemerality’ presents a series of process-orientated objects designed to encourage its users to engage in methodologies for positive death acceptance to reconsider one’s own mortality as a mean to experience a more compassionate life that will diminish the destructive effects of unconscious death fears.

Philosophers and academia posit that everyone of us experiences a fear of death. For many, this fear manifests indirectly, either as generalized unrest or masquerading as other psychological symptoms and can occur at any point of our lives.

In a death repressed society – one where the denial of death is preferred over confrontational of one’s own mortality, can result in residual anxiety and unconscious destructive social behaviours.
