Straits Farmerly

Abstract or Summary of Project

As a country that imports over 90 percent of our food supply, Singapore is vulnerable to fluctuations in food supply, safety and prices. People are increasingly seeking alternative ways of obtaining vegetables and fruits which are nutritious and safe for consumption, starting with growing their own food at home. Knowledge on home farming can be found everywhere, but quickly loses people’s interest as these informations are not consolidated enough.

This project aims to study the different types of urban farming and our spaces, in order to design an online framework and repository of knowledge to guide potential home farmers at beginning their own efforts at urban farming in Singapore.
