Narrative and Tactile Comfort for Anxious Children

Abstract or Summary of Project

This project attempts to understand and help young children 5-8 years old to cope with mild stressors that can be alleviated through narrative and tactile comfort.

‘The Bird who was Afraid of Heights’ is about a timid little owl who makes a new friend after getting lost in the dark woods. Their friendship develops through obstacles they face together which strengthen the little owl’s self-efficacy and belief in himself.

The narrative is accompanied by a tactile toy in the form of the main character, as part of a holistic package.
