Abstract or Summary of Project

A pop-up urban intervention to facilitate play as a coping mechanism against urban stress. This project utilizes the various types of play; primarily creative, social and object interactions as ways of slowing people down, reminding them of the smaller experiences which they often neglect in this fast pacing society. In PausePlay, there is a transparent ball labyrinth machine for passerby to play simultaneously. The unicursal path of the labyrinth takes the players out into a journey of re-direction and when played with strangers, become a vessel for small social interactions and lessen the anonymous nature of urban spaces.
