When The Moon Faces The Earth

An exploration of the dichotomy between solitude and interdependence, tracing the journey from a desire for isolation to a recognition of the profound need for human connection. Through observation of tides, the artist uses the natural phenomenon to symbolize the ebb and flow of relationships, highlighting the interconnectedness of individuals within the larger fabric of society. As the tides shift, so too do our perceptions of independence and reliance, ultimately revealing the intrinsic bond that binds people together.

Inward

“Inward” is an animated music video, that follows a girl navigating a maze symbolizing her emotional journey. Each twist and turn represents a stage of grief, mirrored by her dynamic alter-ego portrayed through dance alongside her. Despite her attempts to escape, she discovers the maze is more than just a physical obstacle

Beneath The Heartstrings

‘Beneath The Heartstrings’ derived from the fact that deep within every mankind there’s an innate ability to be sensitive. However, only about 15-20% of the human population are highly sensitive. They are born with Highly Sensitive Personality (HSP), a personality tied to high sensory-processing sensitivity (SPS) trait. Due to this unique trait, they often undergo different experiences as compared to others who are in the same scenario and hence, get misunderstood very easily. Thus, ‘Beneath The Heartstrings’ is a project that sheds light on the trait in hopes that people will be more understanding of HSPs (highly sensitive people) by letting them experience what HSPs experience. Done through illustrations to dive deep into HSPs inner world, experimental motion work to showcase a part of what we experience internally in abstract form, and a toolkit filled with cards to educate and help individuals understand HSP better.

Déjà vu

This project is about the recognition of my personal aesthetic experiences of déjà vu. Seeking to describe the essence of a phenomenon of déjà vu by exploring it from my own perspective and of those who have experienced it. What are some of the ways that artists and designers can use design forms to express a state of déjà vu?

The Hue Space

The Hue Space is an interactive audiovisual installation that explores light in relation to human emotions. Presented in a full-dome projection space, this enclosed and immersive room invites visitors to experience unfamiliar and singular visual conditions. Through multiple combinations of sound and subtle gradual transition of colours, the work engenders unique and constantly evolving lighting tableaux. Inspired by the psychological influence of colours on human perception, visitors may find themselves constructing emotional responses and narratives during their experience.

This highly minimal installation was conceived as a direct response to over-the-top immersive dome-based video projection seen in most planetariums and domes projects. With the introduction of LED strips, the colour from the projection blends with the colour from the LED strips, forming a unique gradient of colours every second. These unexpected combination of colours also mimic nature’s sunset/sunrise and also the aurora borealis. With a carefully crafted audio in sync with each colours, visitors are brought along to a journey of ancient wisdom and modern abstract.

The Hue Space is best experienced from start to finish as the work is  progressive and aims to be a durational art installation. The work also serve as a metaphor of entering into one own’s brain as a place of contemplation and reflection as the dome has a similar shape to the human brain.
