Introduction

Topic 3 – Greenhouse Gases and Global Warming

The topic of global warming is a highly debated topic because of the implications it holds for the Earth’s climate. There is fear that human civilisation would not be able to adapt to the changes in climate caused by Global Warming. Currently, many are trying to come up with ways to reduce the rate of Global Warming.

The group will specifically focus on the Carbon Cycle. Before one can come up with solutions to Global Warming, it is important to understand the pathways taken by Carbon dioxide (a major greenhouse gas), to and from the atmosphere. Most current strategies in combating Global Warming would involve either decreasing the amount of Carbon Dioxide going to the atmosphere, or increasing the amount of Carbon Dioxide leaving the atmosphere.
