1.

1) Expensive (relatively high cost compares to other methods)
2) Efficiency is not as high as other techniques

2.

I would expect the water soluble determines to be the polar compound because “like dissolve like”. The water is polar an if something is water soluble it will be polar too. Fat soluble will not be polar.

3.

There are generally 2 components to produce acid rain. The 2 sources are coal burning electric plants which produces SO2 which will combine with water vapor to produce dilute sulfuric acid. So by doing a, c, d will help to reduce electrical usage thus reducing the source of acid rain. Another source of acid rain is vehicle emissions where NOx will combine with water vapor to produce dilute nitric acid. So by b and e will reduce vehicle emissions thus reducing the source of acid rain.

4.

a) Coal fired plants release sulfur dioxide, creating sulfate particles that are responsible for 60% – 85% of the poor visibility in eastern parks.
b) Normal rain has a pH range of 5-6. So, if the rainfall in this park is 10 times more acidic the pH range must be 4-5.
