Lesson 12: Latex

What is the technique?

A latex is a colloidal suspension of very small polymer particles in water and is used to make rubber.

 

What are the materials needed?

  • Mould (small plastic container)
  • Colours (acrylic paints, food colouring, etc.)
  • Liquid latex
  • Wax spray
  • Hardener
  • Measuring scale
  • Rubber gloves
  • Safety mask
  • Plastic cup
  • Spoon or something to stir/mix solution

 

How to achieve the technique?

Note: Keeping the ratio of liquid resin to the ratio of hardener –> 100g : 4g

 

  1. Prepare the mould
  2. Spray mould with conditioner and leave to dry
  3. Pour 100g of liquid latex into cup

4. Pour 4g of hardener into the cup of liquid latex

5. Mix them well

6. Pour the solution to your mould.

7. Leave to dry. Ensure it is not in enclosed room.

  • Interior design (divider, screen, etc.)
  • Display item
  • Lamps
