One of the main focus of 2018’s Year of Climate Action is to instil awareness among citizens and inspire them to act.

This is a top-down approach, starting from the Government – where climate actions are already “well-embedded” in our developmental policies. Next, collective effort is needed to create an impact towards climate actions. Finally, on a daily basis, it is just as important for individuals to incorporate these climate actions into their lives. Alongside with external (government) and internal (community) behavioural control, individuals might be able to sustain climate actions in the long-term.

Prompts are often circulated to encourage individuals to act. Framing of the message is important – how they message is described. Instead of “saved”, “wasted” could be a better word to convey higher severity of costs (refer to example below).
