Welcome

This blog will be about the environmental attitude and behaviour in Singapore and in the Netherlands. When I first came to Singapore, I noticed that there are some differences in plastic use between the Netherlands and Singapore. In Singapore, you still get a plastic bag when you go grocery shopping. In the Dutch supermarkets, you are encouraged to buy reusable bags, because you also have to pay for plastic bags. It also came to my attention that many people here buy drinks and they get them in a plastic cup with a straw and with a small plastic bag, so it’s easier to carry. The little plastic bag is something I have never seen in the Netherlands. I’ve also noticed that you always get a receipt when you go grocery shopping and the receipts are very thick. In the Netherlands, you have to ask for a receipt if you want one. On the other hand, I’ve seen a lot of recycle bins on the streets in Singapore. This is not common in the Netherlands. I want to find out if there are differences in environmental attitude and behaviour between the Netherlands.
