The Roots & Shoots organization was founded in Hungary in 2006 then the Jane Goodall Institute was established as well. It follows two main trends to increase awareness of environmental and conservation problems in Hungary and to contribute to animal protection, conservation and humanitarian projects. It provides environmental education by organizing projects and festivals (e.g. frog saving, Jane Goodall Nature Trail, Roots & Shoots) and it supports animal protection (e.g. improving of dog shelters, nominal adoption of chimpanzees of Africa).
