About the author

Hi! My name is Sharon Chan, and I am currently a 3rd year Psychology undergraduate in Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

I have always felt a deep connection with nature. When I got introduced to the term Biophilia in this Conservation Psychology module, I felt like I finally could put a name to what I have been feeling the past few years! That drove me to find out more about this concept, which was popularized by the legendary E. O. Wilson, whom I am covering on in this blog.

In the past 2.5 years of being in NTU, I have climbed 16 mountains, having the opportunity to travel to many different countries such as China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia! I once heard a quote that goes,

“Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb.”

The mystery might just be Biophilia.

I do hope that you will take something away from reading this blog, and be inspired by the works of E. O. Wilson!
