Attitude, self-efficacy, Theory of Planned Behaviour

It was previously explained that the Theory of Planned Behaviour could be an explanation as to why Singaporeans do not bring their own containers when taking food away.

However, the Theory of Planned Behaviour can also be used to explain how behavioural changes can be made. When bringing your own containers becomes the social norm, and when more people start to care about the environment, it is likely that more people will succumb to the social pressures of bringing their own containers.

The social norm of bringing your own containers can also encourage self-efficacy. People may believe that they have no impact as individuals, but if everyone is committing to the same action, people will begin to see how their collective effort as a community can have a positive impact.
