Knowledge

Being knowledgeable about conservation issues is more likely to influence a person to behave in ways that are congruent to their knowledge. In a study done by Kals and Maes (2002), it was found that ecological awareness was a powerful predictor of sustainable behaviour. However, it must also be noted that having knowledge is most effective when paired with the intention to learn about conservation issues, and the intention to make lifestyle changes in accordance with environmentalism.
