In the course of a week, I managed to perform a structured interview around 7 people in Tanjung Balai Karimun and I asked for comments from the locals randomly. I tried to ensure that there is a variety of the people I interviewed. Below are some of the questions I asked them during a structured interview with the answers, translated into English from Bahasa Indonesia by myself.
(the term “littering irresponsibly” is a direct translation of the Bahasa “membuang sampah sembarangan” which means to throw rubbish simply, or not at its correct place)
Questions:
- Name, Age, Level of Education
- Have you ever littered irresponsibly? If you have, how many times a day? What are the things that you normally throw?
- Do you know the effects of littering irresponsibly?
- Why do you litter irresponsibly? or why do you think people litter irresponsibly?
- What are your thoughts when you litter irresponsibly?
- Do you know where the collective rubbish of Tanjung Balai Karimun ends up in?
- How does your house deal with the rubbish at home?
- When you were young, were you ever taught of the effects of littering irresponsibly and to not litter irresponsibly?
- What do you think of the warnings that are put up in various parts to deter people from littering in that particular area?
- What will you do if you see others littering irresponsibly?
- What do you think should be done so that people around you will not litter irresponsibly?
