Ignorance & neglect of dissimilar animals

Before reading this part, answer this question.

I believe the majority of us will choose group A.  Animals in group A are more similar to us. We are more likely to identify and empathize with animals in group A as compared to group B. We get more affected emotionally when we see animals similar to us suffering. For dissimilar animals, we don’t feel that upset. Generally, we are more attentive and protective of similar animals. Presented with the idea that they are endangered causes us to react more strongly. On the other hand, dissimilar animals get neglected and we don’t care if they are endangered or not. We are ignorant of the importance of dissimilar animals.  Consequently, conservation efforts for these dissimilar species fail to get much recognition from the public and thus fail.
