Short Overview

In his lifetime, Jacques Cousteau was a conservationist, oceanographer, underwater explorer, photographer, filmmaker, innovator, author among many other things. He lived from 1910 to 1997, and in that time, devoted over 50 years to exploring and defending the seas and marine life.

He contributed to marine conservation by bringing attention to the beauties of the seas and marine life, and how human actions were destroying them. He also made several significant conservation efforts that have lasting impacts until today. Additionally, he pioneered many useful inventions that drove ocean research to the next level.
