An avid hiker, Shi Ying is a Year 2 Psychology undergraduate from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Having grown up with parents who love the outdoors, Shi Ying has similarly developed a love for nature and being out in the sun! On weekends, she frequents the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to scale Singapore’s highest natural peak at 163.63 metres, and then chowing down a plate of Hokkien Mee from the nearby Bukit Timah Food Centre after. Well, it can be said that she exercises so that she can eat all that she wants to 😛 That said, her favourite hiking trail to date is the Southern Ridges, as it provides a panoramic view of the city skyline from Faber Peak!

When she is not busy studying, Shi Ying can be caught frolicking in nature and exploring the plethora of hiking trails or green spaces Singapore has to offer. On her lazy days, she often kicks back with a book and a cup of tea in hand. She is very thankful that the Singapore government and relevant authorities such as the National Parks Board (NParks) have gone to great lengths to conserve, maintain and even develop green spaces that allow Singaporeans some respite from the humdrum of life. On many occasions, she relies on these green spaces to make her feel ‘alive’ again.
