Nature Reserves

Nature reserves are forested areas protected by law. In Singapore, our reserves are conserved under the Parks and Trees Act 2006. Conserved for Singapore’s biodiversity, the four nature reserves in Singapore are: Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and Labrador Nature Reserve. Nature reserves are considered to be valuable to Singapore’s natural heritage and visitors are advised to take more care when visiting them so as to not harm the flora and fauna found there.

Tips and tricks for visitors:

  1. Come in covered footwear to navigate through the paths which may be littered with rocks
  2. Avoid using stick-on insect repellent patches as they tend to fall off and become litter
  3. Remember the old adage: take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time.

All these nature reserves have their own charms and in particular, I would explore 1) Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and 2) Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve in this blog.
