Case Study: Good Grief Network

Next, we will be looking at a case study on how programs are taken by organisations and support network to tackle the issue of ecological grief. We will be looking at the “10-Steps to Personal Resilience & Empowerment in a Chaotic Climate” by the Good Grief Network.

Good Grief Network hopes to strengthen community ties by fostering resilience through a collective support group. The Good Grief Network uses a variety of techniques to facilitate the process of ecological grief by helping one to cope with depression over the environmental crisis. They aimed to create a fundamental basis of resilience and strength among grievers. They are committed turning grievers to good-grievers; this involves having the courage to stand up as advocates and championing for the environmental issues they care.

By adopting a psychological perspective, the 10 steps can be linked to various psychological dimensions and theories will further help individuals to turn ecological grief into action. Hopefully, this can also give further acceptance and help explain the psychological reasoning behind their grief process.
