With the increasing awareness of the critically endangered species of the Singapore freshwater crab, conservation efforts have been implemented to save this species from extinction. The Freshwater Crab Conservation Roundtable was organised in 2014 to bring relevant stakeholders and experts together to share knowledge and perspectives, and discuss on conservation planning of the Singapore freshwater crab. The conservation efforts for the Singapore freshwater crab can be discussed in four broad dimensions:

  1. Continuing research and monitoring
  2. Site protection and management
  3. Captive breeding and husbandry
  4. Outreach, education and awareness
