Sumatran tigers are naturals in the water. They feature webbing between their toes, and chasing their prey into the water is one of their best tactics. They are extremely swift swimmers so that they can over take their large prey easily there that they may not be able to do the same on land. Sumatran tigers also have padded feet which allows them to walk on land quietly to sneak up on their preys. They have sharp claw in each toe, enabling them to scratch and grasp their prey, as well as for climbing.

Sumatran tigers have night vision 6 times better than of a human. This assists them in detecting movement of preys in the darkness. They also have white spots on the back of their ears called “eye spots”, which confuses many animals that the eyes spots are eyes. This allows the Sumatran Tigers to keep them and their cubs safe from predators.
