About the Author

Hi, my name is Lin Ken and I am a final year Psychology student from Nanyang Technological University. I absolutely love food, not just because it keeps us alive, but also because it provides us with one of the simple pleasures of life and is always a reason to bring people together. It is also an expression of love, meaning, and culture. One of the best things of multicultural Singapore is its affordable and authentic variety of food; we can choose to eat Indian, Chinese, Malay, Western, or any other ethnic cuisines 24/7, all year round! However, because food seems plentiful and accessible, we tend to under appreciate it. Food wastage might be something that we feel guilt for as we toss our leftover food into the bin. However, food waste is so much more than that. It represents the water, energy, time, and effort invested in producing the food. With this blog, together with others alike, I hope to give a reason for us to reevaluate the value of food, and to waste food a little less.

I have pledged to waste less food for our environment, for those who have worked hard to put the food on our plates, and for the intrinsic value of it. Jump on the bandwagon, and join me to share my love for food!
