I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Professor Michael Gumert for broadening my perspectives about environmental issues and being an inspirational figure in reminding us not to underestimate our individual impact towards environmental protection. Sparing a thought for our environment may engender seemingly unnecessary sacrifice of our personal comfort and comes with a social cost of being judged by many. However, upon closer understanding, small steps towards caring for our environment is beneficial to mankind even though its effect is not immediate and impactful. The Zoo trip that complemented my learning about nature and conservation could have been even more impactful if I have had the chance to experience it younger. Nonetheless, it is the patience and dedication of the Professor in sharing his past experiences that made my second visit most memorable.
