Career

Leonardo DiCaprio developed an early interest in acting, under relentless support from his parents. He appeared on commercial and educational shows since he was very young (at the age of 5!). Nonetheless, not until his early teens did he succeed. The journey to fame proved to be arduous.

DiCaprio did not immediately become popular when he started his acting career. He was casted in small roles before he landed on his first major movie role in This Boy’s Life (1993). That same year, he portrayed a mentally-disabled child in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, securing his reputation by earning his first nomination for the Best Supporting Actor on the Academy Awards. He became America’s ultimate sweetheart, and subsequently rose to stardom due to his portrayal as Jack Dawson in Titanic (1997). Other acclaimed movies that he starred in are Catch Me If You Can (2002), Inception (2010), The Great Gatsby (2013) and The Revenant (2016), winning himself an Oscar award for the Best Actor.

DiCaprio is also a movie producer. Several renowned films are The Aviator (2004), in which he was both an actor and an executive producer, Orphan (2009), Runner, Runner (2013) and The Wolf of  Wall Street (2013). He was nominated on the Academy Awards for the Best Producer with the 2013 movie.

Shortly summarised, DiCaprio is a well-known American actor and producer. Furthermore, he is an avid environmentalist. He incorporated the creative side of his job and his pro-environmental side in his career. In actuality, some of his movie co-productions promote environmental awareness. A few of such movies include The 11th Hour (2007), The Ivory Game (2016) and Before the Flood (2016).
