Retail

When apparel is delivered to a brand from the factory, they will have to be re-distributed to their respective retail outlets. A large proliferation of fast fashion stores means that there are very high transport energy needs. Additionally, each of the outlets would require energy for heating, lighting, air-conditioning and other day-to-day functions to maintain the shop. Given that there are packaging materials (i.e. plastic or paper bags during purchase) and marketing materials (i.e. large advertisement posters) involved during the sales process, the accumulative carbon footprint of a garment is extremely high.
