Well-being of the Population

Illustration of the reported benefits of interacting with nature

The regular exposure to greenery can have positive effects on our mental, cognitive, physiological, and social well-being. The above illustration demonstrates the different aspects of benefits in our well-being of interacting with nature. These benefits of the natural environment are exceptional important to a child’s developmen. In a study mentioned by the Singapore National Parks (Nparks), children who are exposed to the green outdoor setting reported an improvement of emotional and social health. They have also developed better psychomotor skills and cognitive functioning. Furthermore, green space is a powerful natural treatment to mitigate symptoms of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children.

It is true that exercising outdoors in a natural environment like in a park is more restorative than exercising in an urban environment. I personally experience greater revitalisation, self-esteem, vitality, as well as lower inhibitions, tension, and worries jogging in a park.
