Fun facts about oysters:

1. They are bivalves and they live inside their shell for almost their whole life.

2. They can change genders.

3. They breathe the same way fishes do with their gills and mantle.

4. They are an aphrodisiac

There are of course more about oysters that are imperative to our ecosystem.

In this blog, I am going to highlight the importance of oysters, the threats that they are facing and how we can do to help conserve this spectacular species.

The biggest oyster is the Pacific oyster measuring 35.5 cm in length and 10.7 cm in width (cr:npr.org)
