Although the population of whale sharks have been declining at a worrying rate, many countries that contributed to this problem are also slowly starting to realise the harm that is being done to these creatures. Thus, both governments and locals have come up with alternative ways of earning money, and have put laws in place to protect these creatures from the cruelty of whale shark fishing and finning.
Countries mainly conserve whale sharks through 2 main avenues: ecotourism and governmental laws.
