National Recycling Program (NRP)

Launched in April 2001, the National Recycling Program (NRP) was launched to encourage household recycling and reinforce the 3Rs messages. It involves the public waste collectors (PWCs) licensed by NEA to provide the recycling bins and recycling recollection services to all HDB estates and private landed properties.

This government-led recycling program adopts a collection system for recyclables such as paper, plastic, glass, and metals. These recyclables can be deposited into the blue recycling bins found under every Housing & Development Board (HDB) block at open areas and outside every landed household.

The current NRP serves as a foundation and introduction of household recycling habits in Singapore. However, these blue bins are often neglected. Why is it so?
