Food Recycling

Food waste that cannot be avoided can be recycled wherever possible. For proper food waste recycling, it must be separated from non-food waste items, such as disposable cutlery, as they may disrupt the recycling process.

At the household level, food waste can be recycled by composting. Composting is the natural process of decomposition that turns organic materials into nutrient-rich fertilizers, or compost. Compost is useful for fertilizing garden or potted plants. Raw fruit and vegetable scraps are some of the common waste materials for making compost at home. The National Parks Board has provided some guidelines on how you can begin their DIY composting at home.
