Graduation from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire

In 2010, William graduated from the African Leadership Academy and went on to enroll in Dartmouth College in the United States. Due to the disruptions in his education and English not being his native language, William struggled in his first year. However, he sought help actively and persevered, eventually catching up with his peers. In 2014, he graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies.

“It was challenging but I knew I would make it because other people have done it before”

Upon graduation, William joined IDEO.org, a non-profit design studio focused on designing innovative products and services that will make an impact. He has also worked with the non-profit WiderNet Project to design modules that are available offline so that information can be more accessible to people without the Internet. He hopes to help people fulfil their innovative ideas by equipping them with the technical know-how, a challenge he faced when constructing his windmill. Currently he works full-time with the Moving Windmills Project, an organization he co-founded in 2008, and also runs a transportation business in Malawi.
