Two years after the release of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, The Global Catholic Climate Movement has launched the St. Francis Pledge (or Ladauto Si’ Pledge) in hopes to recruit 1 million Catholics to keep the message of ‘Caring for our Common Home’ alive. The launch of such a movement allows reinforcement of individual’s knowledge about St. Francis and Catholic social teaching on ecology through the commitment of aligning modern lifestyles with existing environmental knowledge. By taking a pledge in the name of St. Francis, our patron saint of ecology, you are committing to express your love for the environment through deep reflection, concrete action and continuous advocacy. Though this great saint walked the earth many centuries before us, his unceasing influence on the church’s teachings on faith and ecology has compelled an even stronger commitment in the church’s response to the current ecological crisis.
Over 10, 000 pledges have been made, you are warmly welcomed to join in the St. Francis pledge today!
Check out some ways you could live out this pledge as an individual, with families, and communities.
