Physical Effects: Weaker Motor Skills

Weaker motor skills

Being outdoors provides children with the opportunity to jump over rocks, lift heavy logs, and climb tall trees. On the other hand, the only physically strenuous activity children face while indoors would probably be getting out of bed to walk to the refrigerator. Needless to say, there are physical health problems that arise from spending too much time indoors and not engaging in physical activities outdoors. Some of the symptoms are listed below:

    • Poor posture from slouching over the computer
    • Neck and shoulder pain from looking down at the phone
    • Arm and wrist pain from holding the phone in awkward positions
    • Weaker muscle and bones from lack of physical activities requiring strength
    • Less agility, balance, and flexibility from a lack of physical activities with fast movements
    • Eye irritation, fatigue, and strain from staring at a bright screen all day long
    • Digestion problems and slowed metabolism from low levels of calories burnt due to lack of exercise
