Habitat

Asian elephants can be found in the following countries:
South Asia  Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh
Southeast Asia (our focus) – Myanmar, China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia (peninsular Malaysia and Sabah) and Indonesia (Kalimantan and Sumatra)

The Asian elephant’s preferred habitat is grasslands with enough trees or forest to provide daytime shade. Before Southeast Asia’s human population explosion, elephants favoured grassy river bottoms — but these were soon invaded by man.
