Author’s Biography

I am Ho Wen Yee (Joanne), a Year 2 Psychology student from Nanyang Technological University. I am an animal lover and I took up this module because I have a great interest in learning about the different conservation issues pertaining to animals, humans and the natural environment.

I first came to be aware of the issues of the honey bees when I saw a quote online. This quote was rumored to be said by Albert Einstein, which states that “If the bees disappeared from the surface of the globe, then man will only have four years of life left.”. Though I believe that Albert Einstein did not actually say it himself and it might be just a snope, however, I began to read articles and news online and found that the declination of the bees population is becoming a real issue that is happening worldwide and that the consequence it brings might be devastating. Therefore, when this blog assignment was given, I decided that the Conservation of Honey bees was something I wanted to contribute.

It is disheartening to know that our wildlife, flora and fauna as well as natural resources is depleting so rapidly and I hope through different channels of educating people of the importance of the relationship between humans and the environment, we will be able to promote a sustainable and healthy environment for people and the wildlife.

Below are some of the photographs of bees that I have taken.
