Forest-Guard Training and Patrols

Teams of forest guards from provinces of central Vietnam were recruited. Funded by the German Development Bank and as part of the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Carbon and Biodiveristy Project, these forest guards undergo intensive training in order to learn how to dismantle and remove snares used by hunters.  They would then conduct regular patrols in the Saola Nature Reserves where poaching is widespread. These guards are tasked to remove and dismantle snares or traps as well as intercept illegal illegal hunters or loggers.
