Early Childhood

David Attenborough has always been interested in nature and natural history and by the young age of 7, even amassed his own “museum” consisting of old eggs, stamps and fossils. A defining moment in his life came when his father introduced Jacquetta Hawkes; a young academic at the university where his father worked. Jacquetta helped to affirm his love for nature and his decision to be a naturalist from then on. Even till now, he still retains the habit of collecting interesting fossils he encounters during his travels.
