“Our key strategy is to accelerate the development and effective management of Marine Protected Areas”
EDUCATION AND FORGING RELATIONSHIPS
To encourage the sustainable use of marine resources outside the officially protected areas, sharing of data and expertise with the local government and fishermen would educate and motivate them to create suitable policies. Their high priority areas includes Wakatobi National Park, The Raja Ampat Islands, The Dewrawan Islands, etc. Attracted by their rigorous research sources, strong partnerships with communities, industries and decision-makers have been forged. This allows them to attract much-needed funding, help locals carve out sustainable livelihoods and conduct outreach programs to raise awareness. For now, only 2.6% of the coral reefs are protected. The Conservancy aims to protect five times that amount in the next decade.
DONATIONS OUTREACH
Through the use of media as a platform, just like many other organisations, the conservancy has also set up an online donation platform to garner funds and help from all over the world.
