Severn Cullis-Suzuki’s passion to fight for environmental justice probably stemmed from having exposed to environmental issues from a young age. Her father, David Suzuki is a well known environmentalist who hosts several TV programmes about our environment and has written over fifty books about the environment. In order to spread message of environmental conservation, he has travelled a lot to speak to people of different countries. However, to reduce carbon foot print, he has stopped doing so.

Severn Cullis-Suzuki’s mother is an established writer who has published numerous books. Having seen her mother stand up against injustice and speak up for the powerless, Cullis-Suzuki was inspired to make a difference to the world.

Cullis-Suzuki is curently living in Haida Gwaii where she founded the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society, offering university education inspired by communities and enivironment of Haida Gwaii.
