With the expanding local population and increasing economic pressure, people are motivated to meet their own needs and to achieve greater affluence. One major way is to increase productivity to generate higher income and to attract more investors. However, all these are done at the expense of the coral reefs, resulting in serious and irreversible damage inflicted on the coral reefs system.
