As the counterpart to the allegory of Avarice [Bosch, ca. 1485-1490], Bosch’s inclusion of The Ship of Fools [Bosch, ca. 1475-1500] places final emphasis on the allegory of Gluttony represented by the overweight barrel-rider. (p. 36)
