Introduction

Yo.

We are Skaterz, the multinational, multicultural group that is responsible for 90% of all the Chinese you hear in the MnT lab.

Ever felt tired walking up the slope from Crespion to the Hall 6 bus stop? Or the loooooong stretch of road from SPMS to Crespion when there are no buses around? You can just strap on our roller skates and literally roll your way back to hall!

“But wait, isn’t the path very hilly and steep (as with the entirety of NTU)? What happens if there are stairs? Do I have to stop and take off the skates before I climb the stairs? Very mafan sia.” Not to worry, our group aims to develop a pair of roller skates that can lock its wheels with a flick of a switch, so that you won’t have to worry about rolling down the stairs because you’ll be essentially walking on stationary wheels. We aim to develop these skates to help people who commute frequently on foot, so that they can save their time and energy when travelling to school or work, or even just going out for grocery shopping.

Our group members:

Chong Wei Jing (SBS): Group leader and safety officer. In-charge of most of the 3D-modelling. Will also be in-charge of taking photos and videos of our prototypes and tests. Enjoys listening to the Chinese songs that Tony plays in the MnT lab.

Chua Yong Keng (MAE): Treasurer of the group. With deep pockets, he’s in charge of reimbursing all our purchases (though whether we get the money back is unknown). Also likes to play old songs in the lab. Unofficially our public relations officer, mingling around with other groups.

Du Nairong (ASE): Group secretary, and the only person in the group who actually knows how to skate. With a strong sense of aesthetics, she’s in charge of drawing our preliminary ideas and designs, and also our deliveryman for our items ordered on Taobao/AliExpress.
