Description
For skaters, cruising around cities and parks can be a thoroughly enjoyable leisure activity, until obstacles such as stairs or uneven terrains stand in the way. Traversing through rough terrains such as uneven asphalt road surfaces littered with potholes, mounting or descending flights of stairs are commonplace in an urban setting, and they prove to be dangerous challenges even for the most skillful of skaters. As such, we envision a pair of conventional roller skates like any other, but with a twist – one that is equipped with a wheel-locking mechanism.
With a flick of a switch, the clamps come down hard on all eight wheels of the skaters, providing a firm and tight grip on the wheels. This fixes the wheels of the skaters, and turns it into just like any other shoe momentarily. Our fellow skater is then poised to maneuver past any tricky obstacles in his way. Breezing through the obstacles, the pair of skaters can be turned back into a normal roller skates with by toggling the same switch.
Vision
We aim to provide fellow skaters with a novel pair of roller skates that enables them to cruise through cities and obstacles common in urban settings without compromising on their safety.
