Learning Experience

We have learnt that in building a drone, many factors have to be considered such as the weight and battery power in relation to the drone’s flying ability and thrust that can be achieved.

Drone flying safety is also a huge factor that needs to be considered and there are many precautions that have to be taken into consideration before flight as it is dangerous and can harm people.

We have found out that the drone can fly during our test run with Kanesh. However, the stability is an issue as this drone is meant for racing (hence it cannot really “hover”; it will continue accelerating at the same spot due to the thrust being too high) and we need to find and refine the PID values.

Since the racing drone is not built for stable flight, we decided to change our drone to one with

We have also learnt that buying our components online (especially sites such as aliexpress) may not be the best choice as we are unable to guarantee the quality of the components. Due to this constraint, our ESC was burnt. Not only that, some of our motors were spoilt and hence we decided to buy the Emax 2212 980KV Brushless Motor from JetHobby.
