We are creating a drone with a 360 degree camera capability. This is to improve on existing drone cameras in the market, which only have a limited field of view.

For drones top in the field, there are limited options to the angles of which the cameras on these drones can take. This limits the ability for the drone to capture footage above it and hence, potential capabilities and function of the camera drone.

DJI is home and creator of some of the best camera drones in the market currently. The position of their cameras and gimbals are usually below or at the front of the drone. Though this placement of the gimbal in the design is useful for scenic bird’s eye view of the environment, it may not be ideal for indoor surveillance.Hence, these designs impose limitations to the functions and possibilities for camera drones, which our group hopes to solve.
