Hey everyone! Welcome to our Making & Tinkering project blog. Yes, you clicked the correct link. We were once called ‘Aerosol Removal Device’ but have since evolved to ‘Water Benders’. Head over to our Development Blog page to discover our learning journey!
As Water Benders, we are working to create a water-based modular air filter that complements current commercial filters. There is a wide variety of air filters available commercially, each with a different working principle. High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are one of the most effective filters for removing small particles in the atmosphere. To qualify as a HEPA filter, the device has to remove 99.95% of particles with a diameter of 0.3 micrometers. However, they are often clogged by larger dust particles, which can be removed by other inexpensive filters, resulting in a short life expectancy. To increase the longevity of filters, we decided to create a filter to remove larger dust particles before the air is directed to the HEPA filter.
