Ecoventure 2017 is here!
Ecoventure is Earthlink’s very own annual youth overseas community involvement program.
This year, Ecoventure will be going to Phong Thanh Commune in Cau Ke district of Vietnam to install a water filtration system in a local primary school. Besides installing the system, Ecoventure 2017 will also conduct trainings and workshops for the local communities to operate and maintain the facility. For those of you who like to interact with children, we will also be conducting lessons for the students in the primary school!
We will embark on this journey from 4th to 18th June 2017, and we are currently seeking interested individuals to join us on this meaningful service learning trip! Simply sign up at http://tinyurl.com/Ecov2017 and come down for an interview!

Waste Trail Journey

With a population size of 5.5 million, do you know how much solid waste we produce each year in Singapore?

7.67 million tons.

Waste management is therefore a topic of concern in face of Singapore’s land constraints. Senoko Waste-to- Energy (SWTE) Incineration Plant is capable of incinerating 3,000 tonnes of waste a day.

To have a better understanding of strategies used to overcome the constraints and problems which Singapore faced in terms of the management of solid waste, we warmly invite you to join us in Waste Trail Journey, a recycling visit to incineration plant in Singapore.

Experience the entire waste management process first hand through a comprehensive guided tour. Transportation will be provided for the participants to the Incineration plant from NTU, as well as for the return trip back to NTU.

SENSg Carbon Footprint Research Project

SENSg Carbon Footprint Research Project

Do you want to have a unique research experience and know about your carbon footprint in the process? Join us now at NTU Carbon Footprint Research project by signing up as our research volunteers!
We will be using the Singapore National Science Experiment (NSE) innovative device – SENSg to collect raw data (acceleration, atmospheric pressure, temperature, etc), which can be interpreted to study environment-related behavior, such as transport mode, usage of staircase or lift, and air-conditioner usage time. The results will enable them to study carbon footprint related to these activities.
The research period is from 24 Oct – 28 Oct 2016.
By participating, you will have access to NSE web portal for even more exciting activities, such as checking your personal data collected, compare it with the national average, and unlock addictive game on the NSE web portal. You will also receive a gift from us when you return the device to us at the end of research period. Moreover, all research volunteers who fulfilled their commitment will stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes, which includes a foldable bicycle, foldable scooter, fan and thumbdrives!

International Coastal Cleanup Singapore 2016

Are you excited to play your part in conserving our Mother Earth?

International Coastal Cleanup is a global event where the volunteers will collect data on and remove the debris from the shorelines, waterways and beaches of lakes, rivers and oceans! All trashes collected will be itemized, categorized and weighted by the volunteers before the information is sent to the Ocean Conservancy organization to be part of the international documentation.

*Membership fees will be collected during the recruitment drive. Membership activation and membership card issuance are available.
*Members who have not renewed their membership this academic year but wish to pay for the membership fees can come down to us during the recruitment drive.
*Interviews for subcommittee positions of the Camp, Nature Guiding and Business & Liaison portfolios will only be held till 10pm for all three days. The last interview slot for these 3 portfolios will be at 9.45 pm.

Nature enthusiasts among you might be interested to hear that we will be visiting the Botanical Gardens, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Night Safari, and more this year. Besides, camps are always a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, and to make new ones!

This time, we will be heading down to Labrador Nature Reserve. Labrador Nature Reserve consists of a range of habitats such as mangroves, secondary forest, rocky shore and parkland. It is home to at least 40% of endangered and vulnerable plant species in Singapore, more than 70 different bird species, and also a variety of spiders and insects.

Earth Hour 2016 is coming soon, we need your help to spread the words! Earthlink NTU will be hosting the Earth Hour Outreach Programme on the 19th of March, Saturday, large number of enthusiastic volunteers are needed.
This event aims to raise awareness about Earth Hour among the residents of Jurong Spring, and what they can do to support the movement. The Earth Hour Outreach Programme will feature an outreach session where volunteers go door-to-door to engage the local residents about Earth Hour and to give them some tips on reducing their energy usage. This year, the programme will also have a Night Event where we will set up information booths and game booths to further interact with the residents.

Greenfest OurEarth 2016, an annual flagship event organised by Earthlink NTU, is just around the corner. This environmental campaign aims to promote environmental awareness among the NTU community. The theme for this year s Greenfest is  OurEarth , which emphasises on collective efforts of all parties  government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), companies, organisations and individuals. Through Greenfest, participants can understand the interrelationships between our environment and us, and unravel the secrets of the nature.
This year s Greenfest features over 15 booths and hosts a variety of partners from NGOs, companies, government agencies, research institutes and Earthlink s portfolios! Greenfest will offer you a glimpse of the environmental issues plaguing our environment, as well as various solutions being implemented to mitigate the consequences of human actions.
Through this jubilant event, you can not only get to know more about the environment, but also stand a chance to win IPAD MINI, GoPro Hero 4, bicycle, ice cream and many more prizes! There will also be a terrarium-making workshop!
